Velika Gorica and Zagreb are connected by ZET bus line 268 Zagreb (Main station) – Velika Gorica. Buses run every ten minutes during the day, the line runs from 0 to 24 hours (the night line runs every hour) and passes through two tariff zones. Zagreb Airport is located next to the Pleso village in Veliko Gorica, and the city itself lies on the route of the railway line and the Zagreb-Sisak highway. The area is rich in cultural and historical sights, from prehistory to our time, sacred and ethnological monuments (wooden chapels and noble manors, the archaeological site of Andautonia (Ščitarjevo), the town of Lukavec and a valuable art collection kept in the Turopolje Museum). The whole area abounds with quality gastronomic offer in numerous restaurants and picnic spots in the vicinity of the city.
The Turopolje Museum operates in the city, as does the People’s Open University Velika Gorica (formerly Juraj Kokot National University).
